How to connect and map to Hostelworld Group.
Inventory updates supported by Hostelworld
Hostelworld Group supports the following inventory updates:
Rates and occupancy — rates on the Inventory grid, extra adult rate, extra child rate, single guest discount.
Availability
Minimum stay / minimum stay on arrival
Maximum stay
Stop sell
Hostelworld Group does not support:
CTA (closed to arrival)
CTD (closed to departure)
💡Hostelworld Group has a maximum inventory update period of 750 days.
Connect to Hostelworld Group
Before connecting to Hostelworld, you will need to:
Create a Hostelworld Group account and set up your property.
Create rooms and rates in Hostelworld’s extranet, to match the set up in your platform.
To connect to Hostelworld Group:
Log into your Hostelworld Group extranet. Request an XML connection with SiteMinder. Take note of the Property code (also called “hostel number”), and the API or XML password that Hostelworld has assigned to your property.
In your platform, go to Distribution > Channels find and click on Hostelworld Group (New).
Follow the steps to connect.
Once you confirm and click Connect, please wait 24 hours for our support team to confirm the connection with Hostelworld.
Update Hostelworld Group channel settings
Once the connection with Hostelworld is confirmed and activated, you can update the channel settings in Distribution > Channels > find Hostelworld Group (New) and click on the ellipsis button (three dots button) > select Update channel settings > update the following settings:
Property code
API password
Currency
Rate multiplier
Tax exclusive rates — select “Yes” if your rates exclude taxes, or select “No” if your rates include taxes. This tax setting must match the tax setting you have set up with Hostelworld.
Map to Hostelworld Group
To map your room rates to Hostelworld:
Go to Distribution > Channels > find Hostelworld Group (New) and click on the ellipsis button (three dots button) > select Edit room rates mapping which will take you to the Room rates mapping page.
Click Map to Hostelworld Group on the channel manager room rate you want to map.
Configure the settings for the channel rate.
Click Save.
Enable Hostelworld Group
Once you have mapped all required room rates and checked that availability, rates, and restrictions are correct, enable Hostelworld to start sending inventory updates.
To enable Hostelworld, go to Distribution > Channels > find Hostelworld Group (New) and click on the ellipsis button (three dots button) > select Update channel settings > click the “Enable the connection to Hostelworld Group (New)” button.
About Hostelworld reservations
There are three different ways a reservation can be made via Hostelworld:
With a paid deposit
Prepaid via bank transfer
Prepaid with a virtual credit card (VCC)
When a reservation is made, the reservation will be sent to your platform with the commission amount, deposit amount and the remaining balance (if applicable). The reservation detail will also specify the gender of guests.
