Set minimum and maximum length of stay restrictions

How to set minimum stay (Min LOS) and maximum stay (Max LOS) restrictions.

About minimum and maximum length of stay restrictions

Minimum length of stay (Min LOS) and maximum length of stay (Max LOS) restrictions help you maximise occupancy and revenue by controlling how long guests can book.

  • Minimum length of stay (Min LOS): The minimum number of nights guests must book from their check-in date.

  • Maximum length of stay (Max LOS): The maximum number of nights guests can book from their check-in date.

  • Minimum stay through (Min Stay Through): The minimum number of nights guests must stay if their booking includes specific restricted dates.

  • Maximum stay through (Max Stay Through): The maximum number of nights guests can stay if their booking includes specific restricted dates.

Note: Not all channels or channel rates support receiving min/max stay restrictions. For some channels you may need to manage length of stay restrictions via the channel extranet directly.

Supported channels and rate types

⚠️ Not all channels or certain rate types support receiving restrictions from Little Hotelier.

A dash (–) icon in the Inventory view indicates that stay restrictions are not sent for a specific channel rate. You can also check in the channel rate configuration under Data supported by this channel rate/Data not supported by this channel rate.

If a channel doesn't support minimum and maximum length of stay restrictions:

  • Different channels and rate types support different restriction types - check what the channel or channel rate supports

  • Check if you can set up those restrictions directly in the channel's extranet

  • Some channels, such as Expedia, may not support inventory updates for some rate types, such as package, derived, and linked rates. This is because these rate types inherit pricing and restrictions from the main rate and are managed directly by the channel.

Set min/max stay restrictions

  1. Go to Distribution > Inventory.

  2. Use the dropdown menu to select Min stay or Max stay.

  3. Click the cell for the date you want to update.

  4. Enter the new value.

  5. Click Save.

Bulk update min/max stay restrictions

Update stay restrictions across multiple dates at once:

  1. Go to Distribution > Inventory.

  2. Click the Bulk update button.

  3. In the Set dropdown, select Min stay or Max stay.

  4. In the To field, enter the number of nights.

  5. Select your date range and days of the week.

  6. Select the room rates and channels to update.

  7. Click Save.

What is Stay Through and how is it different?

Min/Max Stay Through is different from Min/Max Stay because it's based on the dates a booking covers, not just the arrival date.

Min stay or Max stay is arrival-based. For example, a Min Stay of 3 on Friday means any guest checking in on Friday must book at least 3 nights.

Min/Max Stay Through is different: if a guest's booking includes a restricted date, the restriction applies even if they arrive before that date.

Which Min LOS rule type does each channel use?

Not all channels apply Min Stay restrictions the same way, and Stay Through only applies to channels that support receiving minimum stay restrictions from Little Hotelier. By default, Little Hotelier sends Min Stay to most channels as Arrival-based.

Channel

Min LOS rule type

Booking.com

You can switch between Arrival-based and Stay Through in the channel's settings

Trip.com

Always sends Min Stay as Stay Through

Direct Booking

Only supports Minimum Stay on Arrival — Stay Through is not supported

Most other channels

Send Min Stay as Arrival-based by default, depending on what the channel supports

How do I check which Min LOS rule types my channel supports?

Check Channel Settings for each channel to see which Min LOS rule types it supports.

  • If you see a setting such as Use Length of Stay on Arrival, or other Minimum Length of Stay (MinLOS) rule options, the channel supports multiple Min LOS rule types

  • If these settings aren't available, the channel only supports Minimum Stay on Arrival

How do I turn on Stay Through for a channel?

⚠️ Not all channels support Stay Through. If the Use stay through setting isn't visible in Distribution > Channel Settings > Advanced settings, that channel doesn't support Stay Through and the steps below don't apply.

If your channel does support Min/Max Stay Through, turn it on in Channel Settings:

  1. Go to Distribution > Channels.

  2. In the My channels tab, click the ellipsis button (three dots) next to the channel's name and select Update channel settings.

  3. Under Advanced settings, set Use stay through to Yes.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Set your min/max stay restrictions in the inventory grid as usual. When enabled, Little Hotelier sends those values to the channel as Stay Through restrictions.
