Mapping multiple channel rates to one rate

Updated over 4 months ago

Simplify your rate management by mapping different versions of the same room (such as packages or corporate rates) to a single rate in your platform.

Multi-mapping saves time and reduces errors by allowing you to manage one rate instead of several. It ensures consistent pricing across all channels and streamlines your inventory management.

When to use multi-mapping

Use multi-mapping when:

  • A channel sells different versions of the same room rate

  • Pricing and restrictions are the same across all versions

  • Room specifications remain the same

Example:

Little Hotelier has one "Standard double room" rate, but Expedia sells this as:

  • Standard double room - SellRate - Hotel Collect

  • Standard double room - Package - Expedia Collect

  • Standard double room - Linked - Expedia Collect

  • Standard double room - Derived - Expedia Collect

Instead of creating multiple rates, map all these variations to your single "Standard double room" rate. This type of multi-mapping is common for properties using the Expedia Traveller Preference program.

When not to use multi-mapping

Avoid multi-mapping when rates have:

  • Different inclusions: Breakfast included vs room-only rates

  • Different pricing structures

  • Different room types: Never map a triple room to a double room

  • Different availability requirements

Incorrect multi-mapping can cause pricing errors, missing extras and overbooking risks.

How to map multiple channel rates to one rate

  1. Navigate to Distribution > Channels

  2. Locate your channel under My channels

  3. Click the ellipsis (three dots) > select Edit room rates mapping

  4. In the Channel manager column, select the rate to map

  5. Click Map to

  6. Select Yes to Start updating channel to begin updating rates, availability and restrictions

  7. Choose the appropriate channel rate from the Mapped to dropdown

  8. Click Save

  9. Repeat for each channel rate you want to map to the rate

For all rates mapped to the same rate, ensure the pricing is Derived and set to Keep rates the same to prevent sync issues.
