Connect to Expedia

Inventory updates supported by Expedia

Expedia supports the following inventory updates:

  • Rates (those shown on the Inventory grid).

  • Availability

  • Extra guest rate (the extra adult rate in Little Hotelier): Only supported when using occupancy-based pricing. If using per-day pricing, you need to set the extra person charges directly via Expedia.

  • Single guest discount: Only supported when using occupancy-based pricing

  • Restrictions: (Minimum stay, Maximum stay, Stop sell, CTA; closed to arrival, and CTD; closed to departure)

Expedia has a maximum inventory update period of 730 days.

Connect to Expedia

You need to set up an account with Expedia before connecting the channel. Create an account here.

Step 1: Connect in Expedia extranet

  1. Log in to your Expedia account and select your property

  2. Go to Rooms and Rates > Connectivity Settings

  3. Click Add Provider or Get Started

  4. Search for and select SiteMinder RDX and click Next

  5. Click Connect for both Availability and Rates and Reservations options

  6. Click Next, then Confirm to complete the connection

  7. Take note of your hotel ID (also known as hotel code, property code, or Expedia ID)

Step 2: Connect Expedia in Little Hotelier

  1. Go to Distribution > Channels > click on Expedia

  2. Click “Yes, I have an account with Expedia”, then click Connect

  3. Click Log in to Expedia, then click Next. Make sure SiteMinder RDX is connected in your Expedia account

  4. Enter your Property code (also known as Hotel ID or EID)

  5. Enter the Reservation email address for reservation notifications to be sent to

  6. Click Connect

After connecting Expedia, the channel status will show "Awaiting setup". Please allow 24 hours for the connection to be enabled. You will receive an email notification when the channel is enabled and ready to be mapped.

Note: Before mapping to Expedia, create your room types and rate plans in Expedia’s extranet. Set up settings such as room type details, occupancy settings, and extra person charges.

Expedia channel settings

To check and set Expedia's channel settings, go to Distribution > Channels > Expedia > Channel settings tab.

  • Reservation email address: Reservation confirmation and update emails will be sent to this address

  • Rate multiplier: At channel level for all room rates, or channel rate level for specific channel rates only

  • Currency conversion

  • Reservation commission percentage: Enable this to add the channel's commission percentage on top of the total reservation amount. This affects the reservation totals that are also sent to your PMS for NET rates.

Enable Expedia

Once mapping is complete, check your inventory is showing correctly for Expedia on your Inventory grid.

Then, enable Expedia in Channel settings. To enable the channel, go to Distribution > Channels > Expedia > Channel settings tab.
