Map to Despegar

Before mapping

Before mapping to Despegar:

  • Make sure you have created your rates on both their extranet and Little Hotelier

  • Check what inventory types are supported for each Despegar channel rate

Despegar contracts

Each room rate on Despegar is considered a contract, with a contract start and end date. Our platform will only update rates, availability and restrictions between these contract dates. Outside the contract period, Despegar will ignore updates for that rate.

Make sure you have the correct contract end dates, or extend your contract end dates on Despegar, before mapping your room rates on our platform.

Despegar contracts

  • Each room rate on Despegar is considered a contract, with a contract start and end date

  • Our platform will only update rates, availability and restrictions between these contract dates

  • Ensure you have the correct contract end dates or extend your contract end dates on Despegar, before mapping your room rates

Despegar contracted rates

  • Our platform does not support connecting to properties where contracted rates (rates that are managed or derived from the channel) have been enabled

  • You will need to request the removal of these contracted rates before connecting Despegar on our platform

Currency conversion

If you do not want to send your Base currency to Despegar, you can configure an alternate currency:

  1. Navigate to Setup > General information > Currency conversion

  2. In Despegar’s Channel settings, configure the setting Channel Currency Conversion to convert your base currency into a different currency

Notes:

  • Currency conversion is only applied to the rates set in the inventory grid

  • Currency conversion will not apply to extra person charges and discounts configured in the channel rate’s settings

  • Extra person charges and discounts need to be set in the currency being sent to the channel

  • If you make any changes to currency settings, check your online channels to ensure they are displaying correct rate information

  • It may take several minutes for channels to display updates

Map to Despegar

  1. Navigate to Distribution > Channels

  2. On the My channels tab, locate Despegar and click on the ellipsis (...) to open the Channel actions menu

  3. Select Edit room rates mapping

  4. Use the Mapping status toggle to select Unmapped

  5. In the channel column, locate the platform room rate and click on Map to Despegar

  6. In the Channel rate configuration window, select Yes to begin updating rates, availability and restrictions

  7. Under Mapped to, select the corresponding channel rate from the drop-down menu

  8. Click Save

Configuration settings

When mapping your rates to Despegar, you'll need to configure:

  • Extra adult rate: Fee charged per additional adult beyond included occupancy

  • Extra child rate: Fee charged per additional child beyond included occupancy

  • Extra infant amount: Fee charged per additional infant beyond included occupancy

  • Single guest discount:

  • Amount

  • Percentage

  • None

Notes:

  • Currency conversion will not apply to the extra adult/child/infant rates and single guest discount

  • Extra rates will need to be set in the currency being sent to the channel

Why are Despegar inventory updates not working as expected?

If your rates are mapped but not updating on Despegar, check the following:

Contract dates

Despegar rates are contracts with a start and end date. Little Hotelier only sends rates, availability, and restriction updates that Despegar will accept within each rate’s contract period. If a contract has not yet started, has expired, or has an incorrect end date, Despegar will ignore updates for that rate.

To fix this, extend or correct the contract dates in Despegar’s extranet, then re‑map the affected room rates in Little Hotelier if the contract range has changed, and check that updates resume.

Supported inventory types

If a specific rate or restriction is not updating, it is usually due to contract dates, contracted/channel‑managed rates, or how the rate is set up on Despegar’s side. You can still check what is configured for a given channel rate:

  1. Go to Distribution > Channels.

  2. Click the ellipsis button (three dots button) next to Despegar.

  3. Select Edit room rates mapping.

  4. Click the channel rate, then click Configure.

  5. Check Data supported by this channel rate (shown in blue) and Data not supported by this channel rate (shown in grey).

  6. If an inventory type is not supported, manage those updates directly in Despegar's extranet.
