Multi currency pricing is a Direct Booking feature, available to properties using Little Hotelier Pay. It is automatically enabled for all eligible properties.
Multi currency pricing is not available if you use a third-party payment gateway, for example PayPal.
How does multi currency pricing work?
When a guest reaches the payment step on your direct booking engine, the guest’s location is detected by IP address. If the guest's country is different from your property's country, a Choose a currency option appears on the payment page. The guest can select either their local currency or your property's default currency.
The Foreign Exchange (FX) rate is shown to the guest on the payment page before they confirm payment.
You always receive your payout in your default currency. Little Hotelier Pay handles the conversion and there is no change to your payouts or daily operations.
💡 Guests cannot manually select a different currency. The multi currency option is detected automatically from the guest's IP address.
⚠️ Thailand: Guests in Thailand can pay in their local currency at checkout, but their credit card details are not stored after payment. To process any outstanding amounts, collect card details manually or send a payment request.
Does the multi currency feature cost anything?
There is no extra cost to your property. Little Hotelier Pay charges the guest a conversion fee, shown transparently on the payment page before they confirm payment. Your transaction fees remain unchanged.
What happens if a guest needs a refund?
If a guest paid in their local currency, they receive the full refund amount in the currency they paid in, including the conversion fee. The refund process works the same way as a standard refund.
Why do guests see a different exchange rate on the payment page?
Direct Booking has two separate currency tools. Seeing different rates on different pages is expected behaviour.
Booking engine currency converter appears on the search and booking pages. It is a display-only tool that lets guests browse room rates in their preferred currency. It does not affect the payment amount
Little Hotelier Pay multi currency pricing appears on the payment page only. This is the actual conversion (includes conversion fee) applied at checkout. To avoid guests seeing two different rates at the same time, the Booking Engine currency converter is not shown on the payment page
How do I view transaction details for multi currency payments?
Go to Payments > Transactions. The payment breakdown shows the transaction amount in your default currency and the equivalent in the guest's local currency.
Can I turn off multi currency pricing?
Multi currency pricing is a default feature and cannot be turned off. Note:
Your payout currency and amounts are not affected
Guests see the rate clearly before confirming — there are no hidden fees
If most of your guests are local, the currency choice only appears when the booking engine detects the guest is in a different country to your property, so local guests will not see it.
